James Ross Sutphen's Obituary
Funeral services for James Ross ?Jim? Sutphen, 84, of Longview, will be 12 Noon Monday, November 29, 2004 in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Longview, with Reverend Charlie Stevens and Amy Bateman officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews and close friends.
Mr. Sutphen died Friday, November 26, 2004.
Born, October 27, 1920 in Ft. Worth, TX, Jim was the son of John and Pink Sutphen.
He served his country in the U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force where he was a photographer, capturing many famous and important moments in history. He worked in the furniture business, then retired and enjoyed his retirement years working for Tetra Pak. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, 2 to 4 PM.
Mr. Sutphen is survived by his loving wife, Estelle of Longview; daughter, Rita Bateman and husband, Ron of Longview; granddaughters, Angie Bateman Grubbs of Dallas, Amy Bateman of Longview, Arin Garland and husband, Andrew of Round Rock; great grandchildren, Kyle Matthieson of Longview, Robbie Brooke Grubbs of Dallas.
The family asks that memorials be made to Alzheimer?s Alliance of North East Texas or to Heartsway Hospice.
