James Redfearn's Obituary
James Howard Redfearn passed away on Sunday evening, May 21, 2017. He was born December 11, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, TX to Joe S. Redfearn and Nellie Lewellen Redfearn as the youngest of five brothers. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and went to the University of Texas to study Mechanical Engineering.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in January of 1942 and served as a forward observer with the Third Marine Division in Guam, Guadalcanal, and Bougainville. He came to Longview and bought Kern's Bakery with his brothers and later worked in the real estate business. James and his wife, Rosemary were married on April 14, 1950, in the parlor of the First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Everett, Richard (Dick), Noble, Arvin and two baby sisters. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary and two daughters; Margaret R. Hawn and Kathryn R. Christian. Grandchildren; Kristen Hawn and husband, Ted Derheimer, Katie H. Khan and husband, Sameer, Reed Hawn, Jr., Margaret Christian, and Connor Christian, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Redfearn, Joe Redfearn, Bennie Redfearn, Reed Hawn, Jr., Conner Christian, Scott Redfearn, Patrick Redfearn, Sam Redfearn, and Garrett Redfearn.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, May 24, between 5 and 7 pm at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, May 25 at Farmers Academy Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TX.
