James went to be with his Lord and Savior Christmas morning, December 25, 2010. He was born January 16, 1932 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Earnest and Freddie King. James joined the Air Force after graduating High School, and after 22 years in the United States Air Force he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant making his home in Longview. He was very proud of his service to his country and proud of the men and women serving in our Armed Forces today. He continually prayed for their safety on a daily basis.
James accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as a young man. His faith was unshakable. His devotion to Christ and missionary work was first and foremost in his life. James never met a stranger that he didn?t pray for or pray with. His strength and belief in God was evident in everything he did.
Mr. King was a devoted family man. He loved to garden, loved to cook and was always ready for an outdoor get together with family and friends, and could hardly wait for the annual family reunion to come around. He adored his children and grandchildren and cherished the time spent together.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Freddie King and by his brother Russell Leon King.
James had enjoyed living at Colonial Village for the last six years, and made many lasting friendships there. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude for the loving care provided by Sue, Mindy and Michelle of Care Team Hospice, also the wonderful ladies of the East Texas Care Team. You treated him with so much respect and dignity and the family is forever grateful.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted daughters, May Pipak and husband David, Janie Roberts and husband George, son James Robert King and wife Lisa. He is also survived by his brother Aubrey King and wife Earline, sisters Evelyn Mott, Wilma Battle and husband Sonny, sister in law, Billie King and 7 grandchildren, Michael Roberts, Shane Roberts, Joshua Pipak, Justin Pipak, Rachel Pipak and Katy Pipak, Chelsea King and 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Freida Weiss, Cindy Griffin and Doreen McChristy.
