James R. Miller's Obituary
Funeral services for James R. Miller, 72, of Tatum will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2009 in the chapel at Rader Funeral Home in Henderson with Rev. Jimmy Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery.
Mr. Miller passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. He was born December 31, 1936 to Emery and Virginia Miller Sharp in Panola County.
James will be remembered for his many years in the car repair business, including 44 years at Eddie's Body Shop in Henderson. He loved hunting and fishing and spent many weekends at Toledo Bend and in South Texas hunting with the Cunningham's and Metcalf's. James enjoyed camping, and he and Bonnie were members of the Oil Patch RV group for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Tatum Volunteer Fire Department since 1979, fighting many fires and cooking lots of bar-b-que for fundraisers for the department.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnie, two daughters and son-in-laws, Debbie & Gary Middleton and Dana & Hank Buddecke, grandchildren, Jonathan and Timothy Middleton, Kristen Bray, Rebekah and Briar Buddecke all of Tatum, Amy and Roy Brace of Richmond, Ca, and Carie Wilson of Dayton; brothers and sisters-in-law Sam & Cindy Miller of Palm Harbor, Fla., Stanley & Sandra Miller of Longview, Mike Miller of Beckville; sisters and brother-in-law Ann & Bob Lewis of Ruston, La., sister Elaine Weaver of Beckville, brother-in-law & sister-in-law John & Connie Metcalf of Tatum, sister-in-law Wriley Mae Cunningham of Tatum, sister-in-law Ella Ruth Bedgood of Atlanta and sister-in-law Pauline Pittman of Tatum. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Bray, Dean Wilkerson, Gary Wilkerson, Kim Smith, Gary Eberhart Jimmy Everitt, Ben Ferrell, and Michael Haden. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Oil Patch RV Group, Employees of Eddie's Paint and Body Shop, and the Tatum Volunteer Fire Dept., Jack Burch, JR Haden, Jessie Pepper, Elton Brock, Phil Cory, Sherman Smith, Troy Williams, Melton Turlington, Earl Green, Monty Hill, Bobby Blackmon, Jeff Keller and Rayford Gibson.
The family will meet friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Rusk County Children's Advocacy Center, 500 W Main, Henderson, Texas and the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave. Staten Island, NY 10305
