Dear Jim, “Mr. Montgomery”,
I’ll never forget all the good times we had at Ware Elementary. You were a great principal, the last of a breed who believed in fair and just discipline, tough love & lots of fun. I was proud as your PTA President to have you for my two sons’ principal, and watch you shape many young people’s’ lives in the 70s. I remember your pride when you implemented the experimental Individually Guided Education (IGE) at Ware, and received so many national and state awards for it—and we & Longview were so proud of you. You won’t be forgotten soon. RIP, Mr. M.👏👍 Much love.....
Thanks for the memories.

Was my Principal at Ware Elementary...the best! 💌

MY HEART IS DEEPLY SADDENED, WHEN THE SCHOOLS WAS FIRST INTERGRATED AND I WAS TRANSFERRED TO WARE ELEMENTARY & HIM AND THE TEACHERS OVER THERE WHERE THE BEST OF THE BEST. I WAS SO FOND OF HIM AND THAT SMILE OF HIS LITE UP A ROOM AND THE HALLWAYS AND HE TREATED ALL OF US MORE LIKE WE WAS A PART OF HIM FAMILY....MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY & HE WILL TRULY BE MISSED
I knew Jim for many years, he was a true servant of the Lord, He helped so many people. he will be missed here on earth but he is rejoicing in heaven now. He was welcomed home with well done good and faithful servant. But the fond fond memory I will always remember is Big Jim rolling up in his old Constable Ram Charger!

Jim was my principal when I was a young girl, he was very special but he was tough, he always wanted his students to be good and grow, his wife was my 2nd grade teacher at the same time!
He and my dad played a roll as bride and groom in a Halloween carnival one year!
Even after those years his family used to buy rabbits from us when lived in Gladewater!
He will be greatly missed! Love you Jim and Jeane !
Johnny and Mark, rest easy and know Jim touched many lifes during his time and mine was one of them and he will truley be missed. Although he knew all my family my experience started as Principal of ware. Everyone looked up to him , a admired and respected him greatly. He was a mans man and honorable man. I served with him as a reserve deputy and was honored to call him my friend. He was a hoot and everytime i saw him we would swap stories. Rest easy as God will welcome him with open an open embrace. I pray he will comfort all of us he left behind . I will miss him and was honored to have know him. Sincerely , James Kranz and family.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. He was the principal at Ware Elementary when I taught there in the early ‘70s. He was a man of many hats and earned the respect of both students and teachers. He will be missed.
