James M. Jim Salter, JR's Obituary
Services for James M. Jim Salter, JR, 80, of White Oak will be 2 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at East Mountain Church of Christ with James Winniford officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Salter went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10 AM until 12 Noon.
Jim was born on February 4, 1927 in Upshur County, TX to James M. and Georgia Ethel Salter. Mr. Salter was in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country in WWII from 1944-1946. He married Ethelyn Lynn Grace Wood of Gladewater on July 16, 1948 and they lived happily together for 59 years. They are members of East Mountain Church of Christ. Mr. Salter worked for Cities Service and retired in 1982. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him, and he loved his family dearly. If he could have had his way, all of his family would have lived right next door to him where he could watch over them. Now he will be watching over them from Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth Allen Salter and Melvin Leon Salter; and 1 sister, Thelma Jane McCormick.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, James L. and Brenda Salter of Houston, Malcolm Carroll and Pam Salter of White Oak, and Bobby Joe and Lisa Salter of White Oak; sister-in-law Nell Salter of East Mountain; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who will miss their ?PawPaw? dearly; and Many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. BOX 1132, Fairfax, VA., 22032.
