James Floyd Mauldin's Obituary
James Floyd Mauldin, 91, died Friday, March 31st, 2023, at his Hallsville home with his family by his side. James was born August 7, 1931, in Simms, Texas to Floyd Washington Mauldin and Mattie Durham Mauldin. He grew up in Simms with his sister Floyce Ann Frost and brother Robert Wayne Mauldin. He met and married Joy Steele in 1951. He went to work for General Telephone Company in 1952. They moved to Hallsville in 1958 where he was the "Telephone Man" until illness forced early retirement in 1984. James served eight years on the city council and 14 years as chief of the Volunteer Fire Department.
Left to cherish his memory are Joy, his loving wife of 72 years; his siblings Floyce and Wayne; daughter Joyce Dorsey and husband Joe, sons Steve and Jeff, daughter Wendy King and husband Tim; grandchildren Emily Gehring and husband Scott, Nick Mauldin and wife Erin, Courtney Campbell and husband Bobby, Kirstin King and Landon King; great-grandchildren Anna Junes, Lexie Mauldin, Cord Campbell, Collier Campbell, and Luke Mauldin; sister-in-law June Bynum; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends
The family request that memorial donations be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church of Hallsville.
