Funeral services for James Mason Armstrong, 91, of Longview will be held at Ten O'clock am Thursday May 29, 2008 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Reverend Rita Sims officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow at Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Armstrong passed away Saturday May 24, 2008 in Longview.
He was born February 18, 1917 in Lorraine, Texas to Charlie B. and Nora Longmire Armstrong. He had been a resident of Longview since 1946 and was a retired Superintendent for the L. E. Myers Company. He was a member of the Winterfield United Methodist Church.
He was also a member of Masonic Lodge #404 for over 50 years; he was also a member of the Scottish rite and Sharon Temple. He was a Red Cross Volunteer for Disaster Relief and he volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 15 years.
He is survived by his son, Bob Armstrong and his wife Anne of Galveston County, TX; daughter, Brenda Armstrong of Longview, TX; grandchildren
Sarah Adair and her husband Scott, Angela Alvarado, Gregg Gullett and wife Lee Ann, great-grandchildren, Justin Landry, Blake Adair, Brooke Adair, Mason Alvarado, Jared Cantu, George Mason, Jack and James Gullett and special friend, Mildred Barker
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Arjeree Armstrong in 1986.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday May 28, 2008 from 5pm until 7pm.
