James M. Porter's Obituary
Graveside services for Mr. James M. ?Pete? Porter, age 78, of Henderson will be held Saturday December 29, 2007 at 10:00am at the Ebenezer Cemetery with the Rev. Leymoin Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Porter passed away Thursday December 27, 2007, at Henderson Memorial Hospital.
Pete Porter was born to Jack & Mollie Moore Porter on October 28, 1929. He was a lifelong resident of the county. Mr. Porter was a retired sandblaster having worked for King Monument Company. He had also worked through many other monument companies and funeral homes in East Texas where he would letter datelines on markers that were already in cemeteries. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Tommie Porter of Henderson, they were married April 17, 1954. He is also survived by 2 sisters Sue Hays of Minden and Alene Porter of North Carolina, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Cleve Jimerson, Wayne Tipps, Gene Gossett, Wayne Gossett, George Gossett, Jerry Mack Turner, and Ronnie Martin.
The family will meet friends at the Funeral Home from 5-7pm Friday night.
