James M. Miller's Obituary
Services for James M. ?Sonny? Miller, 73, of White Oak will be 12 Noon Monday, April 2, 2007 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Reverends Aubrey Pate and Jay Van Zandt officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Services are the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Miller died Friday evening in a local hospital. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5-7 at the funeral home.
James was born on February 26, 1934 in Gilmer, Texas to L.B. and Lois Miller. He was married to Betty Matthews Miller in 1957. After attending Kilgore College, he worked in South America in the oil field. He proudly served 2 years in the United States Army and was a member of the National Guard. James and Betty came back to East Texas to start his entrepreneurial career. They settled on a farm near East Mountain. After serving as a salesman for William Cameron Wholesale, he owned the Ford tractor dealership in Longview, was a founding partner in Gladewater National Bank, on the board of directors for the Federal Land Bank, owner and partner in R&S Investments and many other ventures including cattle, hay operations and team roping. He loved their cabin on the Sabine River and spent many enjoyable years fishing with his wife and entertaining his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; sons Mark Miller and his wife Leigh Ann, and Ken Miller; granddaughters Katy Miller and Kelly Miller; mother, Lois Miller of Winona; sister Mary Ann Palmer; brother and sister-in-law L. Bert and Wanda Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
