James Edwin Legg's Obituary
Services for James Edwin Legg, 69 of Longview, TX will be held Tuesday, January 23rd at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Daniel Dower officiating. Rosary will be held 9:30 am with visitation to follow. Inurnment will immediately follow the funeral mass at the St. Mary Columbarium. There will also me a memorial mass held in New Iberia, LA at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church at 10 am on Friday, February 2, 2024 with visitation held one hour prior to mass. Jimmy completed his earthly journey on Monday, January 15 at his home with his loving wife.
Jimmy was born on February 17, 1954 to Edwin and Ruth Legg in Morris, IL. He graduated from New Iberia Senior High School and quickly joined the New Iberia Police Department where he finished his career ranked as a Major. He married the love of his life, Roberta (Robbie) Beyt in 1980. Jimmy loved his family more than anything, and his favorite times were spent watching his daughter and granddaughters in their various sporting events or hunting with his best friends. He was an exceptionally loving husband, father, grandfather and friend as well as a fierce protector of his beloved community. He volunteered many years teaching children Hunter Safety Education and was most known for his role as campus security at Catholic High School.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Robbie Legg of Longview,TX, his daughter Erin Brogoitti and her husband Clint Brogoitti and their daughters Claire and Caroline Brogoitti of Kilgore, TX; sister Cathy Legg of Niceville, FL; brother-in-law Tom Jepsen, nephew David Jepsen, and Stepmom Sharon Legg of Auburn, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ruth Legg, his sister Elizabeth Jepsen and Dr. William Greer, a cherished friend who loved and cared for Jimmy as one of his own.
In lieu of flowers, the Legg family requests donations be made to the Kilgore ISD Education Foundation at PO Box 2498, Kilgore, TX 75663.
