James Lawrence Koranda's Obituary
A memorial Mass for James Lawrence Koranda, 88, of Longview, formerly of Chicago, Ill. Will be recited at 1 PM Saturday, September 14, 2013 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Longview. Cremation arrangements are with Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Koranda passed away Wednesday evening at his home in Longview.
James was born on February 13, 1925 in Chicago, Ill to Albert and Eva Koranda. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church and was retired from Sears. Mr. Koranda believed in service and enjoyed volunteering his time at the V.A. Clinic and Good Shepherd for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and ELKS Lodge and served as Commander of the VFW in Chicago for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Koranda; their daughter, Lynell Sherman and her husband James; his granddaughters Heidi Ashley and Dawn Calhoun and her husband Tony; his grandsons James Sherman and his wife Anita and Dustin Sherman and his wife Alicia; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
