James L. Elwood's Obituary
James L. Elwood, 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the chapel at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, with visitation on Friday, March 9 from 6 till 8 PM at Rader Funeral Home. Interment will be at Rosewood Park Cemetery on FM 1844 in Longview. Brother Thomas Ayers and Brother Dick Sawyer will officiate.
Mr. Elwood was born October 18, 1927 in Marshall, Texas to John Henry and Odie Martin Elwood. He was a mechanic by trade but there was not much he could not do. He was an avid gardener who loved spending hours outside as well as a skilled wood-worker. He was a righteous, humble man who exhibited his faith in God in his everyday life. His affiliation was with Camille Acres Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Adelle, three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Julia, Keith and Patti and Johnny and Debi, brother and sister-in-law, Bonnie and Carol Elwood and 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to Camille Acres Baptist Church or Beacon Hospice in Longview.
