James Aaron Johnson's Obituary
James Aaron Johnson passed from this world into the arms of God on September 6, 2018. Loving friends and family surrounding him in the comfort of his own home.
Born September 5, 1924 to Ruthie Thomas and Blanche Johnson in Albany Oklahoma, James was one of five siblings. The family moved to Durant Oklahoma when James was 12.
James proudly served his country during WWII with 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, Company E-502. He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in January 1945. He was shipped back to the states where he spent some years healing. When he was able to work, he went to work for Bell Telephone and then he drifted to West Texas to work in the oil field. In Andrews, James met Lola Faye McAfee. They married December 31, 1955. Together, they had four children.
In September, 1957, James went to work for the U. S. Postal Service and in January of 1966 transferred to Longview where he retired in 1982.
James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lola Johnson, two sons, Bill and Mike Johnson and one daughter, Marie Johnson Knapp, 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Baby daughter Wendy, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of His Life Ceremony will be held on September 22 at 1:00 P.M. at Mulberry Springs Baptist Church in Hallsville, Texas.
