James “Jim” Elward Hargis
James “Jim” Elward Hargis was born May 18, 1928 and departed this earth June 24, 2016. He was born in Fredrick, Oklahoma to Lee Hargis and Lucy Dunn Hargis. He worked 25 years at CR Anthony Company and was currently employed as “Mr. Margie” at Bargains by Margie in Longview.
He was past president of the Longview Chamber of Commerce and was one of the original organizers of the Lobo Booster Club. He and his wife Margie, operated Bargains by Margie in Longview. He was a member of the Family Worship Center Media Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters, and his first wife, Norma Martin Hargis.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Hargis of Longview; son Johnny and Mahawta Hargis of Oklahoma; daughters, Connie and Al Milligan of Longview, Loretta and Mark Rogers of Tyler; and Chris Hightower of Longview. Grandchildren, John and Teri Hargis, Les and Lacey Milligan, Aaron and Linsey Milligan, Julia and Mark Dahlgren, Garrett and Hillary Hargis, Kaylee Rogers and Colton Hightower; and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery in Longview. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
