James HamiltonJim Moody, Jr.'s Obituary
Jim Moody was born March 5, 1926, in El Dorado, Arkansas. His family moved to Longview, Texas in 1931. He graduated from Longview High School in 1943, and attended the University of Texas, graduating in 1948.
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Geraldine Pipsaire, on November 26, 1949, and they celebrated 53 years of marriage. They owned a children?s shop, called Moody?s in Longview from 1956 ? 1960. He then accepted a position with Steel and Roof Structures from 1960 ? 1962, and later pursued a career with Murphy Oil Corporation from 1962 ? 1988, which brought his family to New Orleans, LA in 1971. He retired from Murphy Oil in 1988 and has resided in New Orleans, LA, for the past 32 years.
Jim and Gerry are members of Woodland Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, chairman of the Building Finance Committee in the 1982 for the current sanctuary, and faithfully served on various committees over the past 32 years. He was a familiar face each Sunday ushering and greeting at the early service. His wit, smiling face and upbeat cheerfulness will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim went to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, November 7, 2003. He was preceded in death by his father, James Hamilton Moody, Sr., and mother, Mattie Mae Ramsey Moody, both from Longview, TX. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Pipsaire Moody, and children, Cynthia Dianne Moody Wheeler and husband, Harris Wheeler of Birmingham, AL; James Hamilton Hamp Moody, III and wife Karen Moody of Dallas, TX and grandchildren, Aaron Joseph Wheeler and Paul Harris Wheeler of Birmingham, AL and Jason Patrick Moody, Landen Ashley Moody and James Scott Moody from Dallas, TX; brother, Bill Nelson from Houston, TX.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 10, 2003 at 11:00 AM, in the sanctuary of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church. A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Grace Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Jehorek officiating following family visitation at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. from 10 until 11 AM.
