James Gordon Dunlap, Sr.
WHITE OAK, Texas - Gordon Dunlap was lovingly relayed to the Lord by his immediate family at his residence on May 4, 2007. Mr. Dunlap was born September 2, 1928, in Lee Creek, Arkansas. He received his formal education in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and joined the U.S.Navy in 1945, serving aboard the U.S.S. Iowa until 1949. He married Emojean ?Emmy? Wilkins of Van Buren, Arkansas on June 24th, 1950 and had a 36 year career with the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring as Mechanical Superintendent. He was a past president of GMC Classics, and a member of GMC Motorhomes International where he has friends from all over the United States and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents; Noel Dunlap and Lena Abshere, brother; Fred Abshere, son; Tom Dunlap, and grandson; Cammeron Dunlap. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Emmy; son, Jim Dunlap, Jr. and wife Terry; daughter, Brenda Dunlap Morton and husband Billy Wayne Morton, Sr.; grandchildren; Dr. Bill Morton, Jr. and wife Rowena Morton; Chris Grubb and husband Jimmy; Tommy Dunlap; Angela and Ashley Dunlap and three great-grandchildren; Makana and Piper Morton; and Gavin Dunlap. A brother, Darrell Abshere and sister, Barbara Holland.
He had many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Sumner Cemetery, Cabot Arkansas, Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 11:00 am. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N 2nd Street, Cabot, Arkansas 72023.
