James ?Jim? Garth
Services for James ?Jim? Garth, 87, of Lake Cherokee, will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with the Reverend Jim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery in Carthage.
Mr. Garth was born on August 18, 1916 in Ft. Worth, to James F. Sr., and Enola Garth. He passed away on Monday, October 13, 2003 in a Longview hospital.
Mr. Garth was a graduate of the Oklahoma Military Academy in Clairemore, OK., and attended Tulsa University and the University of Arkansas. He served his country with the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers in Europe and the Philippians was the Vice President and Treasurer for Carthage Cup, and a member of the First Christian Church. .
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Garth was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Brooks Garth. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kilgore Garth of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Robert Lambert of Nashville, TN., and Krista and Cliff Furtick of Henderson; son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Bernice Kilgore of Longview; 8 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Coleen Grissom of Boerne; brother-in-law, Tom Grissom of Porum, OK.; cousins, Jan Hattaway of Kilgore, Robert Peek of Baton Rouge, and Sharon Schoenemann of Plano.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday evening, October 14, 2003 at the funeral home, 1617 Judson Road.
