James F. Smith's Obituary
James Franklin Smith died on December 17, 2006; he was 77. He grew up in Mississippi and served in the US Navy. He received a B. S. degree from SMU, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and an M. S. degree from the University of Michigan. He and his wife moved to Florida in 1969 and in 1994 he retired from Honeywell in Florida, where he had worked for 25 years as a mathematician, an analyst, and a software designer.
He served on the vestry at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Vicksburg and as senior warden at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Dunedin, Florida. Before its closing, he was appointed lay vicar and lay preacher at St. Mark?s in Gladewater. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Longview.
He is survived by his wife Judy; sons Michael and his wife, Lori of West Point, NY, and John of Kealakekua, Hawaii; daughter Cindy of Dallas; grandchildren Travis, Taylor, Rosalie, and
Katie of West Point; and sisters Rilla Tullos and Mildred Washington of Orlando.
Memorial services for Mr. Smith are pending and will be announced at a later date.
