James Allen Edwards' Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of James Allen Edwards, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished member of the community. Grandpa James embraced eternity on October 18, 2023, at his residence in Longview, TX. There was nowhere he would rather be than at home. He was 89 years old.
Born on April 27, 1934, in Ore City, TX, James was the son of Euell Edwards and Clara Moore. At a young age he met and fell in love with and married Maxine Edwards. They shared many joyous years together before her passing at a young age. Throughout his life, James exemplified a remarkable work ethic and dedication to his craft as a master hatmaker in the clothing industry. His skills and passion led him to the esteemed employment of Resistol, where he created timeless pieces for 40 years.
James's legacy extends beyond his professional accomplishments. As a father and a grandfather, he shared his wisdom, love, and unwavering support with his children and grandchildren. Their lives were forever enriched by his guidance and the bond they forged over the years. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, soft heart, and willingness to help anyone in need.
A man of humble origins, James held a special place in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Throughout his life, he found solace and joy in the simplicity of everyday experiences. Whether it was sharing stories with friends, enjoying an old western, or driving around town on Sundays after church at Camp Joy Church of God where he attended for many years, Grandpa James embraced life with a steadfast determination and an infectious smile.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maxine Edwards, son Tommy Edwards, and his brothers and sisters Raymond Edwards, Maggie, Leonard R Edwards, and Maudie Mountie. He was survived by his brothers George A Edwards, Lonnie R Edwards, his sisters Faye and Betty Ramonds, and his son Eladio G Rios. Grandpa James had 4 grandchildren, Patricia Edwards, Eladio Rios Jr., Jessica Rios, and Cecil Avila. As well as 5 great grandchildren Christian Rios, Miguel Fajardo, Kayleigh Rios, Hannah Rios, and Eladio Rios III, and one great great grandson Sebastian Rios. He cherished his many nieces and nephews.
To honor and celebrate the remarkable life of James Allen Edwards, loved ones and members of the community are invited to attend the visitation at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on October 25, 2023, starting at 10:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the same location, where colleagues, friends, and family will gather to share memories, offer condolences, and find solace in the connections Grandpa James created.

His presence in our lives will never be forgotten, and his memory will continue to inspire us as we navigate the challenges of life.
