James Edward Murphy, Jr.
A memorial service for James Edward Murphy, Jr., 75, of Longview and Arlington, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. Following cremation, a private family interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Jefferson, Texas. Mr. Murphy passed away Thursday, August 18, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 19, at the funeral home.
Born on October 17, 1929 in Waxahachie, Texas to parents James E. Murphy, Sr. and Martha Kazilla Dark Murphy, he was the oldest of 6 children.
James E. Murphy, Jr. was a graduate of Longview High School. He attended Kilgore College and held a Bachelor?s of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington. He was a member of the Texas National Guard where he served with distinction and retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He served as Most Excellent High Priest of the Arlington Chapter, Royal Arch Masons.
Mr. Murphy was a devoted husband and father, and a private person who enjoyed quietly helping family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane; his son, David Murphy of Arlington, Texas; his daughter, Jean Theobald and son-in-law David Theobald of Littleton, Colorado; his daughter, Sharon Walch and son-in-law Mark Walch of Lake Ridge, Virginia; his grandchildren Taylor and Payton Theobald of Colorado and Olivia and Henry Walch of Virginia; his brother John Cowden Murphy of Longview; his niece Linda Murphy of Longview; his brother, Thomas Murphy of Copperas Cove; his sister Kazilla Dominguez of Yuma, Arizona; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tex and Jo Stiles of Longview; niece Glynda Simpson of Longview; and nephews Richard Stiles of Longview and Randy Stiles of Mexia, Texas.
