James Edward Clayborn's Obituary
James Edward Clayborn, 71, of Henderson, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at ETMC Henderson after a lengthy illness. No services are planned with cremation arrangements entrusted to Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Clayborn was born September 26, 1938 in Kilgore, Tx, the son of Morgan Eddings and Cora Brittain. He was a former music teacher having taught in Waco, Pasadena, CA., Longview and Laneville ISDS. He held a Masters Degree in Music, did his under grad studies at Cal State in Los Angeles and post grad studies at UT Tyler.
Mr. Clayborn was a member of TMEA, NEA , and Tyler Music Chorale. As a classical vocal artist, he performed at the Monterrey Music Festival in California, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, and directed many church choirs. Many of his students performed at state competitions. He served in the US Army as a chaplain s assistant and choirmaster.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Alexander; father, Morgan Eddings; sister, Georgia Thomas; and brothers, Bill Clayborn and Dobie Clayborn and Lawrence Clayborn.
Surviving is his wife Jacquelyn Clayborn of Henderson; son , James Clayborn, II and wife Laura of Wiley; stepson, Michael Kelley and wife Leonda of Grand Prairie; grandsons; Preston Clayborn and Alexander Clayborn of Wiley; step-grandson, James D. White of Grand Prairie; sister, Annie Murl Flowers of Lubbock; brother, S.J. Clayborn of Pasadena, CA.; aunt, Lucille DeSalle of San Francisco, CA; cousin, Shirley Thomas of Pasadena, CA.
