James "Doc" Duke's Obituary
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of James Lynn “Doc” Duke at the age of 66, on July 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 15, 1958, in Liberty, Texas. Doc lived a life filled with hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
Doc was a devoted son to his father Billy Lynn Duke and mother Betty Marberry Duke, a loving husband to his wife Wanda Stokes, and a proud father to his son Lance Duke and daughters Cassie Simmons, and Crystal Tombs. As a welder in the oil and gas industry, He poured his passion and talent into every project he undertook, leaving behind a legacy of quality craftsmanship and integrity in his work.
Despite his busy career, Doc always found time to devote to his family, cherishing moments spent creating memories with loved ones. Doc spent many days living on Lake of the Pines and in the Pleasure Points Community, hunting, fishing and watching westerns. His kind heart, unwavering strength, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the community that will not soon be forgotten.
The memory of Doc will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, commitment, and love will forever be celebrated. Doc is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Betty Duke. He is survived by his long-time beloved wife of thirty years, Wanda Stokes; his son Lance Duke and wife Lori of Longview, TX, daughter Cassie Simmons and husband Juan of Waxahachie, TX, and daughter Crystal Tombs of Red oak, TX. Brother Kent Duke and wife Kimberly Ann of Tatum, TX; and his grandchildren, Ava Espinoza, Emma Richardson, Macie Jackson and Garrett Poehls. As well as many other aunts, uncles, and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services to honor and remember James Lynn “Doc’ Duke will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. There will be a visitation Wednesday from 6-8pm and a service on Thursday at 10 AM.
In this time of mourning, let us come together to support one another and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. Doc will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and strength that will guide us through the darkest days. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love of his family and friends.
