James "Dick" Richard Blakeley's Obituary
James “Dick” Richard Blakeley was born in Laird Hill, TX to Pike and Myrtle Lee Blakeley on June 12, 1943. He passed away on January 11, 2023 in Hallsville. A graveside service will be held at Rosewood Park on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 3 p.m.
He worked at Texas Eastman Chemical Company in Longview, TX for 32 years in the maintenance shop repairing valves. Dick loved to camp, bowl, bay fish, but his favorite activity was to attend and participate in the competition chili cook offs. He and his wife competed in many cookoffs. His team was No Brag Chili Too. His favorite competition chili cook off was in Terlingua, TX. His wife, brother, and son competed for many years in this event. His wife Betty and he were even married during the competition.
He is survived by his sons Pike Blakeley and daughter in law Suzanne Blakeley, Bret Blakeley, Chad Blakeley and daughter in law Tammy Blakeley; grandchildren Justin Blakeley, Molli Rodin, Sara Blakeley, Austin Blakeley, and Carson Blakeley; great grandchild Makenzi Rodin.
He is preceded in death by parents Pike and Myrtle Blakeley; all of his siblings; children Schaylon Blakeley and Richie Blakeley and wife Betty Blakeley.
The family would like to thank Christus Good Shephard Home Care - Marshall and Traditions Health Hospice Care for their excellent and attentive care of their loved one.
