JAMES DAN MALONE
Services for James Dan Malone , 83, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Friday, September 23rd at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, 1617 Judson Rd. with Dr. Laney Johnson and Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Burial will be at the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery in Sugar Valley, Georgia following services at 2PM Sunday, September 25th at the Thomas funeral Home in Calhoun, Georgia. Mr. Malone died Tuesday, September 20th in Longview.
James Dan Malone was born April 8, 1922 in Sugar Valley, Georgia to I.B. and Mary Carter Malone. He graduated from Sugar Valley High School and attended college in Toccoa, Georgia. After graduation, he moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi and worked for LeTourneau Manufacturing for three years. After serving with the navy for two years, he moved to Longview to work with R.G. LeTourneau to establish the new plant in Longview. Mr. Malone retired from the R.G. LeTourneau Company after 45 years of service.
He was an active member of the Mobberly Baptist Church and loved hunting, car racing, and outdoor activities. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue of Longview; his son and daughter-in-law, Dan Jr. and Dianne Malone of Longview; granddaughter and husband, Misty Malone Porter and Gary of New Braunfels, Texas; great granddaughter, Zoe Porter of New Braunfels; grandson and wife, Rodney and Latricia Malone of Longview; brother, Norman Malone and wife Ellie of Sugar Valley, Georgia; sister, Bobbie Shirley and husband Tarver of Smyrna, Georgia; a special aunt, Helen Carter of Atlanta, Georgia and a number of cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Malone; a sister, Mary Frances Malone and a son, Richard Paul Rickey Malone.
The Malone family wishes to express a special ?Thank You? for their kindness and care to Dr. Robert Sansom and his staff, the Good Shepherd Emergency Room, Good Shepherd Medical Center nurses and the staff at Whispering Pines.
Memorials may be made to the Mobberly Baptist Church or to the building fund for the new S.E. Belcher, Jr. Chapel and Performance Center at Letourneau University.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Thursday evening 6 to 8 PM.
