James Crockett Orchard's Obituary
James Crockett Jim Orchard, 95, died September 15, 2010 in Longview, Texas. Services will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Kerens, Texas at 2:00pm on Saturday September 18, 2010 under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Jim was born on October 23, 1914 in Gonzales, Texas to John and Ida Hedges Orchard. He married Claudine Auerbach on November 10, 1938 in Houston. They had two sons and 71 years of marriage. Jim served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in World War II in New Guinea and the Philippines. After the war Jim, Claudine and their sons lived in Alamo, Texas; Wasco, California; and Longview, Texas. Jim and Claudine moved to Corsicana in 1973 where they spent most of their retirement before moving back to Longview in recent years. Jim was a loving, loyal, and supportive son, brother, husband, in-law, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Claudine; brother, Malcolm, three sisters, Neloise Cooper, Nina Carpenter, and Ellsworth Head, and a grandson, Adam Orchard. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Key of McAllen; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Eunice Orchard of Houston and Don and Annette Orchard of Longview; seven grandchildren Alison Orchard, Amy Corron, Charles Orchard, Deanna Simmons, Mike Orchard, Cynthia Orchard and David Orchard; four great grandchildren Camryn Corron, Rachael Simmons, Kristen Orchard and Kyle Orchard. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the charity of their choice.
