James Blair Cocke's Obituary
James Blair Cocke was born to Pleas M. and Florence Cocke August 13, 1924 in Elderville, Texas and passed away after a lengthy illness on November 19, 2013 in Longview, Texas.
James is survived by his wife Polly, daughter, Charlotte Shanks from Katy, TX; son Jim Turner Cocke and wife Sandy from New Braunsfels, TX; grandchildren Timothy and Jeffery Shanks, and Mariad, Cami, Jacob, and Teri Cocke, along with many other nephews and cousins.
James was in the US Army, and in 1950 he was stationed in Japan. Soon after he came home and was re-stationed in Oklahoma. He married the love of his life Daphne Pauline (Polly) on February 7, 1951. James lived on a family farm and raised cattle, he also worked at Eastman Kodak for many years. He was a member of Centre Presbyterian Church and was an Elder at one time. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of cattle thru out his life.
Services for James will be Friday November, 22 at Centre Presbyterian Church in Elderville, TX at 2 o’clock in the afternoon with a committal service to follow at the church cemetery. There will be a visitation the night before the service, Thursday November 21 between 6 – 8 pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
