James (J.L.) Carver's Obituary
J. L. Carver of Longview, Texas passed away April 21, 2016 at the age of 88. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 23rd under the direction of Rader Funeral Home with Brother Rick Webb officiating. Burial will be at Memory Park in Longview, Texas.
He was born in Glidden, Texas on March 10, 1928. During his young childhood, his Mother was a teacher and they lived in many areas of Southwest, Texas settling in Gilmer, Texas. Upon graduation from Gilmer he married Nell Rose Sims who preceded him in death in 1978. Into this union four children were born. Judy (Fitzhugh) Williams of Fairview Texas, Sherrell ( Wayne) Gore of Winnsboro, Texas, Jimmy (Janelle) Carver of Fairview, Texas and Joe Carver of Hallsville, Texas.
After graduation from High School he enlisted in the Army serving in World War II. Upon his separation from the military he attended Texas A&M College playing in his beloved Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. After attending A&M he became the 23rd Texan hired at Eastman Kodak in Longview Texas. J.L. retired in 1988 after thirty eight years of service.
In 1988, he married Barbara Gilley who survives him. Barbara Is the Mother of Diane Gilley and Chris (Liz) Gilley of Longview, Texas.
J.L. is the loving Paw Paw of eight grandchildren, Dr. William (Dana) Young of Frisco, Texas, Diane (Shane) Frame of Fairview, Texas, Tony (Tara) Carver of McKinney, Texas, Todd (Carly) Carver of Dallas, Texas, Brandon Carver of Hallsville, Texas, Beau(Helena) Brasher of Grand Prairie, Texas, Harley and Casey Gilley of Longview, Texas and seven great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
J.L. was also preceded in death by his Mother, Georgia Carver, his father J.R. Carver and beloved cousins Neva (Woody) Woods.
The family would like to thank Texas Home Health Hospice Nurses Susan, Michelle, Leslie and Ashleigh and Damascus Brooks, Texas Home Health care giver for their loyalty and loving support.
