James Daniel Bailey's Obituary
Services for James Daniel Bailey, 87, of Diana, formerly of Longview will be Friday, July 19, 2024, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home with Mark Taylor officiating. Visitation will be prior to service from 1:00-2:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm and a private family burial will follow. He was born September 5, 1936, in Gary Texas to Joe and Maggie Bailey. He passed away at home on July 16, 2024. He grew up in Longview, attended Longview School graduating in 1955. He was an avid Longview Lobo fan and had season tickets since 1958 and when he could no longer attend the games, he enjoyed listening on his little radio and then was so excited to watch them live on his TV. Jim was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of 7. He served from 1956-1958 in the 82 Airborne Army 3rd division. He retired from Texas Eastman after 35 plus years and enjoyed many Colorado hunting trips with lifelong friends. He and his wife, Donell, loved traveling to England, Alaska, cruises and also RV travel across the country with friends. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Elks Lodge member. Jim is survived by his wife, Donell. Children, Denise (Gary) Capps, Danette (David) Hinson, Deanne (Mark) Purifoy, Teresa (Michael) Mooney, and Dale (Patty) Wallace, his siblings Ruth Coleman and Willie Nell Thompson, 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Dennis Wallace and brothers JM and Ralph Bailey.
