James B. Cooper's Obituary
Services for James B. Cooper, 80, of Longview, will be Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Barham officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park. Mr. Cooper passed away Friday morning at his home. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Cooper was born on January 30, 1928 in Honey Grove, Texas to Claude and Nettie Cooper. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Cooper was also the Manager of American Optical for many years and Co-Owner of Cooper Optical before his retirement in 1989. He was a longtime member of Mobberly Baptist Church and the Faithful workers Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Mary Ellen; and 2 brothers, John Owen and T.C. Cooper.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Cooper of Longview; his sister, Mildred Barker of Longview; his brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Dee Cooper of New Mexico; his sister-in-law, Jo Cooper of Longview; special friends, Billy and Sandy McCrary of Longview; and his 2 special cats, Sweetie and Honey.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. N. B. Riddle for his many years of faithful care and attention provided.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class, care of Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75605; the Humane Society of Gregg County, 303 Enterprise St. Longview, Texas 75604; or to the charity of your choice.
