Jacquelyn Yates Hurst Jameson's Obituary
Jacquelyn Yates Hurst Jameson, 92, peacefully passed away on the morning of Tuesday, May 16, 2017. She was born to Dr. Vessie Reeves Hurst and Genevieve Yates in 1924 in Longview, TX. She was a descendant of George A. Kelly, one of Longview’s pioneer families. Jacquelyn married Blackshear Jameson in 1944 and was married to him for 61 years until Blackshear’s passing on April 28, 2005. Jacquelyn was a devoted wife and mother.
She was a 1944 graduate of Southern Methodist University. She was a member of numerous organizations in Longview including the House and Garden Club, Shakespeare Club, past president of the Junior League of Longview, Captain William Young Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Pi Beta Phi sorority (75 years), Woman’s Club of Dallas, and the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club of Dallas. She was often found faithfully exercising at the Institute for Healthy Living. Jacquelyn was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and later a member of the Thelma Morgan Sunday School Class, and the Longview Evening Women’s Bible Study Fellowship.
She is survived by her son Blackshear Hurst Jameson and wife Karen, and their children Ginny Jameson, Brandy Maxwell and husband Cain and son Aidan, Audrey Pace and daughters MaKayla and MaKenzie, and Lacy Jameson; her daughter Mary Alice Dulweber and her children Ashley Chumley and husband Phillip, and their children Connor, Caleb and Anna Catherine, Allison Dulweber and Christina Morris and husband Steven; her daughter Jacquelyn Simpson and her children Bill and Kelly; her son Kelly Jameson and wife Jane, and their children Sarah Jane, Joseph, Joy Elizabeth, Josiah, Jonathan, Jeremiah, Jubilee, and Judah. She is also survived by sister-in-law Elizabeth Walsh and several nieces and nephews. Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Mary Yates Marchman of Dallas, and her daughter Jean.
Jacquelyn’s faith and steadfast spirit gave her strength in her final days. Jacquelyn dedicated her life to caring for her family and others, and she will be greatly missed. Her funeral will be Friday, May 19, 2017 at Longview’s First United Methodist Church starting at 10:00am with the entombment to follow in the Yates-Hurst Mausoleum at Grace Hill Cemetery in Longview under direction of Rader Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:30 – 7:30pm.
