Services for Jackie H. Cole, 59, of Gilmer, will be held at 2 PM Thursday, February 13, 2003 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Father Milton Black and Verger John C. Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at the funeral home.
Mr. Cole was born on December 1, 1943 in Carthage, Texas to Lewis and Rethal Cole. He passed away on Monday evening, February 10, 2003 in a Longview hospital.
He grew up in the Carthage, and was a graduate of Carthage high school. Mr. Cole served his country during Vietnam as a Crew Chief for the United States Air Force where he never lost an airplane under his care. He graduated with highest honors from University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Technology. He was also a member of Alpha Chi. He had worked as a Registered Nurse for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and flying radio controlled airplanes. He worked as an engineer for Crosby-Lebus Manufacturing in Longview for the past 25 years.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cole of Gilmer, daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Chad Jackson of Gilmer, granddaughter, Erin Jackson of Gilmer, special sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Shirley and Royce Anderson of Carthage, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers.
