Jack Moore Redfearn's Obituary
Jack M. Redfearn was born Jack Milton Moore Jr. Dec.7, 1946. He left this earth on Dec. 31, 2015 and now though absent from the body is present with the Lord. Today we celebrate his homecoming and the life we were privileged to share with him on earth.
Jack’s biological father, Navy airman Jack Milton Moore, died at age 23 in a private airplane crash 7 months before he was born. He was adopted by his “Daddy” Arvin Redfearn after the marriage to his mother the former Virginia Taylor Moore.
He was a ’65 graduate of Longview High School and attended the University of Arkansas. Although he never served active duty, he was a member of ROTC at UofA. After graduating as a civil engineer he was employed by the City of Kansas City where he retired after 32 years. There he met his first wife at church, the former Karen Johnson, was married for 35 years and raised their son David.
God can use all things for good to those who love Him. Jack later was blessed to meet and marry a former high school classmate, his beloved Patsy Walker Redfearn. They were active members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, raising money for missions and attending motorcycle rallies to spread the gospel of Christ to bikers, had a ministry of visiting hospitals and nursing homes with their pet therapy dog, Red, were active members of Mobberly Baptist Church and were blessed to be able to realize his lifelong dream of a trip to the Holy Land to “walk where Jesus walked.” Jack had a servant’s heart and supported various mission-oriented organizations. He was an avid supporter of our military and veterans, always taking time to shake hands and thank them for their service.
Throughout Jack’s life he came as close to depicting the love of our Heavenly Father as is humanly possible, through his unconditional love, patience, kindness, and generosity expressed to his family, friends, and strangers. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather as well as a dedicated servant to the community.
During the last year of his life, after being diagnosed with recurrent metastatic male breast cancer, he was an inspiration to all that knew him…in person and on Facebook….keeping the faith and knowing that God is always in control despite the trials or circumstances. During his numerous hospital stays he never failed to ask his nursing staff if they knew Jesus as their Savior. Jack was always ready to share the gospel and his testimony with anyone he met. We are certain that Jack now has many crowns in Heaven.
Jack loved this poem and sought to “live in such a way that those who knew him, but didn’t know God, would come to know God because they knew him.”
WHEN I SAY, "I AM A CHRISTIAN"
When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting, "I am saved!"
I'm whispering, "I get lost! That's why I chose this way"
When I say, "I am a Christian" I don't speak with human pride
I'm confessing that I stumble—needing God to be my guide
When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on
When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt
When I say, "I am a Christian" I don't think I know it all
I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught
When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are all too visible but God believes I'm worth it
When I say, "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache, which is why I seek His name
When I say, "I am a Christian" I do not wish to judge
I have no authority...I only know I'm loved
