Jack D. Manning's Obituary
Jack D. Manning
A Celebration of Life for Jack D. Manning, 78, of Longview will be held at 2 PM, Saturday September 19, 2015 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. Jack, surrounded by his family and so much love, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer this past Saturday, September 12th. He was born in Ranger Texas to Edward and Gladys Manning. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Sturch. Jack was a long time resident of Longview and was recently retired from Trinity Industries. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his granddaughters Maddy and Erin. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and pretty much all things that involved the great outdoors. He spent many hours in his workshop working on projects big and small. He loved to work with antique guns and vintage cars. He was always into some project, whether it was building his teardrop trailer, restoring a boat for the lake, or building an airplane to fly on the weekends. He never met a stranger, he was kind, generous with his time and talents, and always a great friend to those around him. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. Jack found comfort in his faith and leaned heavily on that faith during his battle with cancer. Those left to remember and celebrate their life and times with him are his wife, Sue Manning. Daughter Lori Reeves and husband Larry. Daughter Melanie Ceal and husband David. Two grandchildren, Maddy Reeves and Erin Ceal. Brother Orlando Bonfiglio Jr. His extended family and many friends. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Koya and the staff at Longview Cancer Center. Also, a special thank you to the staff at Compass hospice who were there with dad during the final days of his journey home. Donations in Jack’s name may be made to The American Cancer Society or Compass Hospice of East Texas.
