Jack Loyd's Obituary
We celebrate the life of Jack Loyd (1931-2025). Jack passed away at Westminster Place in Longview, Texas on August 24, 2025. Over the decades he lived, Jack lived through much change which included being a telegraph delivery boy in Palestine, Texas for his father who was the Western Union manager there. He enjoyed that job and was known and loved around the town. He always had a great attitude, was a very hard worker and was honest. This hard work ethic, friendliness and trust followed Jack his entire life. He started Jack’s Air conditioning & Heating in Longview Texas with nothing but a $200 loan from his father, and, like when he was young, ended meeting most of the town as he would help people stay cool. Jack acquired the nickname of “Bullet” from his employees. This was because he did whatever was needed and did it fast. Jack also served in the National Guard Reserves for years and never took credit for this. After marrying his wife June, Jack ended up traveling the world again due to awards from his suppliers in their appreciation of his business. He was active in Emmanuel & Calvary Baptist Church’s over the years and supported them.
Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years June Loyd, daughter Jill Walker and stepsons Ron and Rodney Coe. His older sister Joyce Schumacher is in Houston, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer on Wednesday August 27th at 10 AM. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday.
