J. O. " Tommy' Tompkins' Obituary
Funeral services for J.O.” Tommy” Tompkins ,age 95 of Henderson, will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson with Rev. Adam Gillespie and Rev. Michael Cary officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Tommy was born October 21, 1920 in Dallas to Snyder and Thelma O. Tompkins and died Friday July 29, 2016 in Center. Mr. Tompkins was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in WWII. He attended Trinity Baptist Church, and was a deacon. Tommy worked and retired from the Longview News Journal newspaper.
Mr. Tompkins is preceded in death by his mother and dad, sister Dorothy Nell Decker, and step daughter Gina Beeman.
Survivors include wife, Virginia Tompkins of Henderson, son Joe Tompkins of Merida, Mexico, daughter Gay Tompkins of Mesquite, TX, stepdaughter Cherry Bostick and husband Dan of Price, TX, step son Danny Eason and wife Anita of Laneville, TX, step son-in-law Audie Beeman of Henderson, sister Betty Sue Kutalek-of Baton Rouge, LA, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Troy Benson, Josh Bostick, Brian Beeman, Audie Beeman, Chad Robertson, and Dr. Michael Goad. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Bassett, David Price, Dan Bostick, Joe Wilson, Keith Riggs, and Danny Eason.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
