J.D. Drew's Obituary
Visitation for J.D. Drew, 81, of Gladewater, will be held at Rader Funeral home in Longview on Sunday, January 7th from 2-4 p.m. A private burial is set for the immediate family the following day. Family will receive friends during visitation on Sunday.
J.D. passed away on Thursday, January 4th in Longview. J.D. Drew was born on November 13, 1942 in Port Lavaca, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Elaine Drew. He is survived by his daughters: Denise and husband Jerry Davis, Melanie and husband Richard Lively, and Lisa Martin. His grandchildren: Carrie Chandler and spouse Adam, Chad Lively and Stephanie Diaz, Shane Lively and spouse Caitlyn, Cassey Lively-Webb, Autumn Martin, and Summer Martin. He had 12 great-grandchildren. His brothers and sister: Floyd Drew, Al Drew, Danny Drew, and Barbara Kolstad.
Mr. Drew was known for his passion in sharing his love for Jesus Christ to all he encountered. He touched many individual lives and was loved by many. One of his many talents was wood-working and creating unique homemade pieces for his family and friends. He spent his lifelong career as a welder before retiring to enjoy precious memories with his beautiful bride of over 50 years. One of his greatest gifts was teaching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to live each moment to the fullest. J.D. was humorous, loving, giving, and always willing to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed but those who knew him well are rejoicing of his reunion in Heaven at the feet of his blessed savior.
