Iva Fern "Jo" Males' Obituary
Iva Fern Males Jo went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 16, 2007. She was born in Deer Creek, Oklahoma on January 3, 1916 to Louis Samuel and Lorena May GrayHeizer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Males, her parents, a granddaughter, Jenny Rebecca Ward, and two brothers, Dana and Chick Heizer.
She was instrumental in starting the School for Little Children at First United Methodist Church in Longview, where she taught for many years. She also did volunteer work at Good Shepherd Hospital. She was an avid traveler. Her journeys took her to Russia, to distribute bibles; Israel, Europe, Alaska, and her favorite place on earth, Hawaii, which she considered paradise. Now she really is in paradise. She was a caring, loving and generous woman, who loved her Lord, church, family and friends.
She is survived by daughter, Judy Kirby and husband, Johnny; daughter P. J. Flanders, and husband, Robert, son Dana Males and daughter-in-law, Melissa Males; four grandsons, James, David, Dana Wayne and Andy; four great grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Gavin, and Garrett; one sister-in-law, Sue LaGrone and two brothers-in-law, Tom Akin and wife, Georgie and James Males and wife, Sue.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 20, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Memory Park Cemetery in Longview under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Longview, Texas, Thursday, July 19, 2007 from 6-8 PM.
