Irma B. Hammett Davis' Obituary
Irma B. (Hammett) Davis passed away in Lufkin, Tx on November 23, 2016 after an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was the daughter of John Vernon Brooks and Vadie Mae (Milstead) Brooks and was born January 6, 1922, in Rusk County, Tx. She graduated from Laneville High School and retired from Citizen’s National Bank after many years of service.
Mrs. Irma and Nana as she was known was preceded in death by her husband’s Hubert Hammett and Foster E. Davis after many happy years of marriage. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Stephens of Lufkin, TX and a son, Aubrey Hammett and wife Lynn of Whitehouse, Tx; grandchildren Kurt Stephens and Sonja, Lufkin, TX; Amy Rayburn and Travis, Huntsville, Tx ; Collin Stephens and Kristina, Ashburn, VA; Chad Hammett and Erica, SanMarcos, Tx; Jill Hammett and Trent Kerr, Tomball, TX; Jeff Hammett, Austin, TX; 13 great grandchildren; several special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a very special sister in law Robbie Jo Brooks of Henderson.
In addition to her husband’s and parents, Nana was preceded in death by a son in law Charles P. Stephens; brothers John Belton Brooks, Vernon Harley Brooks and Billy Ross Brooks; and two great grandchildren, Colton Rayburn and Zachariah Stephens.
Services will be held at the Radar Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson, Tx on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1 pm with Rev. Bill Kuykendall and Rev. Steve Butler officiating. There will be a visitation held at noon immediately prior to the service. Private family graveside services will follow. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Russ McEntire, Russell Hudson, David Brooks, Mike Brooks, Dusty Brooks, L.J. (Lefty) Milstead, Gene Milstead, Rusty Dorman, Charles Morris, Edell Husband.
The family wishes to thank Southland Healthcare and Rehab Hall A and Hospice in the Pines, Lufkin, TX and Dr. Kindrell Tucker for their excellent care during the last several months. A special thanks goes out to her caregiving neighbors Russell and Juana Hudson, Clyde Fuller and Victor Alvarez as well as The Caring and Sharing ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, Henderson, Tx.
