Ida Mae Lybass' Obituary
Ida Mae Lybass, beloved sister, mother, aunt and grandmother entered eternity on July 10, 2013 in Longview, Texas. Born in Hermleigh, Texas to Luther and Edna Whitehead on August 22, 1921, Ida Mae grew up in West Texas as the fourth of ten siblings on a farm where money was tight but love was limitless.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lybass, her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by two sisters Mona Calhoun and her husband Billy and Betty Barnfield and her husband Donald; daughter Frankie Taylor and her husband Tommy; Son Douglas Cox and his wife Jane; grandchildren Deanna Warrick, Debby Casey, Daina McClendon, Thomas Lee Taylor, Andrea McCutcheon and her husband Bubba, Bradley Cox and his wife Karen, as well as twenty-one great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ida Mae was a licensed beautician, a beautiful, devoted wife and a supportive, loving mom, aunt and grandmother. Friends and family knew her as a spirited, strong lady that was glad to share her thoughts and give her opinion about family matters for sure. With a wink of her eye, a kiss, a pat or a hug, she would engage in conversation, taking genuine interest in each life that she touched. Her focus was always family and many unforgettable memories were made whenever time was spent with her and Bob at the Lybass home in Pasadena, Texas and in their retirement home on Lake Rayburn where relatives would gather for weekends, holidays, and reunions.
Mae prided herself in the kitchen, cooking fabulous food for friends and family. A gracious hostess, who never met a stranger, mamaw enjoyed entertaining and was always up for a game of Forty-two, Spades, Blitz, and a variety of other card or domino games. Hours spent fellowshipping around tables, eating and participating in family tournaments with our family matriarch will be forever cherished. Family will gather to grieve and say goodbyes at a private service at Rosewood Park Mausoleum under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
