Funeral Services for Hugh Payton John, 64, of Diana will be held at Noon Saturday, August 31, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the chaplains Jim Brooks and Tony Ciomperlik officiating. Burial in Rosewood Park will feature an honor guard ceremony and a U.S. Flag presentation by the Longview Fire Department honor Gurad For Mr. John's many years as a captain with the Longview Fire Department.
Mr. John was born september 7, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Melvin and Euzea John. He passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2002 in a Longview hospital.
Mr. John attended Pine Tree Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a 32nd degree Mason, a captain with the Harrison County Reserves in the early 1970's and a charter member of the Gum Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the Longview Fire Department for 26 years. He worked at many stations in Longview, but spent the majority of his time at central.
Mr. John, a loving husband and father, is survived by his wife, Robbie John of Diana; his daughters, Tressa and Pamela John, both of Diana; a brother and sister-in-law, M.L. John, Jr. and Rita of New Waverly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family recieved friends from 6 to 8 pm Firday eveng, August 30, 2002 at the funeral home.
The Longview Fire Department will serve as Pallbearers.
