Hubert "Fred" Mills' Obituary
Fred Mills was born in Shirley, Arkansas, on September 18, 1932, to Joseph Floyd Mills and Thelma Blair Mills. Fred was married to Patsy for 60 years and has joined her in heaven on August 15, 2023, almost 6 ½ years after her passing! They had two children, girls Caren and Kelly, nine grandchildren, a lot of great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends!
Fred graduated from Conway High School in 1953 and excelled in playing football! He attended Arkansas State University and married in 1956. Fred was a proud member of the National Guard of the Army of Louisiana. He served from 1949-1955 as an Infantry Cook and from 1955-1958 as a marksman and a sharpshooter. He was a Department and Shoe Store Manager from 1956-1978. He then changed his profession and became a brakeman for Missouri Pacific Railroad from 1978-1993 when he retired!
Later years of life, Fred enjoyed the company of Faye Pellett. They met at a Senior Citizen Dance and went to restaurants, played dominos, attended church, and spent time with family for 4 1/2 years!
Worshipping the Lord at Oakland Heights, Spring Hill Baptist, Gladewater First Baptist, Calvary, and East Mountain, Fred served in numerous positions, but the most important fact is salvation at age 26!
He is survived by daughters Caren Cummings and husband Kidron, and Kelly Hutton and husband Tim, and so many family and friends! HE is now WALKING the streets of Gold after 8 months of struggling with diabetic feet!
Services are Saturday, August 19th with visitation starting at 10:00 AM and Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. A private family committal service will be held at Rosewood Park Cemetery for immediate family only. Prayers are greatly appreciated!
