Howard C. “Andy” Anderson
Howard Clifton Anderson, 82, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home September 26, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born April 12, 1931 in Chicago, Oak Park, Illinois. He moved to Longview in 1950 to attend LeTourneau University and graduated in 1952 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He spent two years in the U.S. Army at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Upon his return to Longview, he was employed at Axelson for 41 years until he retired in 1997. His work took him to many countries around the globe.
Howard was a docent at East Texas Oil Museum, a volunteer in the nursing home ministry, and was active in the music ministry of Mobberly Baptist Church. He sang tenor with the Praisesingers and was a charter member of Mobberly’s Sixteen Singing Men.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty Cates, the mother of his children, and his second wife, Aline Dancer Anderson.
He is survived by his three children, Ricky Anderson and wife Karen, Douglas Anderson and wife Donna, and Sheila Brown and husband Todd, and step-daughter, Beth Freeman; and his wife, Betty Zager Anderson.
Howard was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at Mobberly Baptist Church and interment will follow in Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
