Horace Glynn Stiles' Obituary
Loving husband, father, great grandfather passed away Friday, August 19, 2005 in a Longview Hospital.
H. G. Tex Stiles retired from the US Army after 26 years. He served 2 tours during the Korean conflict- spent 10 years as a Green Beret, serving in the 5th, 7th, 8th and 10th SF Groups with 2 tours In Viet Nam. He never tired of talking about his combat and years in the Army.
Born March 14, 1931 to Bill and Gladys Stiles in Hughes Springs, TX and moved to
Jefferson, TX about 1934.
After  his Army retirement, he moved to Longview, TX where he worked at Lone Star
Steel for several years, and also worked in the US Post Office in Gladewater and worked
Several years at Lowe?s Home Improvement Store.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jo Stiles; children, Richard Dwain Stiles and wife Angie of Hallsville, William Randall Stiles and wife Margie of Mexia; daughter, Glynda Jo Simpson and husband Michael of Longview; sister, Jane Murphy; grandchildren, Kristy Jo Lane of Myrtle Beach, SC, Pfc James Brandon Nix of  Camp LeJeune, NC, Jody Wayne Nix of Longview, Austin Glynn Stiles of Hallsville.;  Michelle Simpson of Longview, Keith Jones of Hallsville; great grandchildren, Christian Tyler, Izaak Taylor, Jana Leagh Lane of Myrtle Beach, SC and Zhoe  Simpson of Longview and several nieces and nephews including, SharonWalch and David Murphy, Jean Theobald, Terry Himes, Jackie Lewis, DeeAnn Brietson, Buddy Sales, Joel Sales, Pam, Paul and Phyllis Ashford and Gary Dale Ashford, and Carla Jean Crocker; brothers-in-law, Carl Ashford, Joe Ashford; sister-in-law, Thay Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Gladys Stiles.
He will be dearly missed by all his friends and loved ones.
Memorial services will be held Monday, August 22, 2005 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
After cremation, a private interment service will be held by the family.
Memorials may be made to: Chapter 31 Special Forces Association Scholarship Fund, Greater Hospice of Texas, or the charity of your choice.
