Hope McKay Johnston
Celebration of the life of Hope McKay Johnston will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the First Christian Church in Longview with Dr. Jim Lewis officiating. Friends are invited to attend the burial preceding the service at 10:00 a.m. at Rosewood Park. Both services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Hope was born May 20, 1928 in Monahans, Texas to John and Helen McKay. They made their home in Greggton, Texas and she graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1945. She was a long term member of First Christian Church. She died March 25, 2006 in Longview surrounded by her loving family.
Many in Longview will remember her devotion to her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Bettie Tucker. She always said that even though she was an only child she could not have been more blessed to have a ?brother and sister? like Bill and Bettie.
Hope's love were her children, grandchildren and nephews. She was an avid reader and a wicked bridge player.
Hope was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon, son Mark and brother Bill Tucker.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Judy Johnston; daughters and sons-in-law, Bettie and Johnny Jones, Martha and Jerry Camp and daughter Holy Butter; sister-in-law, Bettie Tucker; favorite nephews, Rusty, Carter and Tim Tucker; grandchildren, Bennett and Katie Johnston, Nicolas Jones, Collin, Carley and Nicole Camp, Ryan, Alex and Isabella Butter and dear friend of over 69 years, LaVerne Moore.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2006 at the funeral home.
