Hewitt Hail Wheless Jr.'s Obituary
Hewitt Hail Wheless, Jr., 82, passed away on December 5, 2022. He was born to Hewitt Hail Wheless, Sr. and Martha Bradshaw Wheless on November 11, 1940. He is survived by his wife Terry Self Wheless, daughters Marti Kirkpatrick, Tiffany Armstrong, and Patricia Davis, five grandchildren, and sister, Nancy Robinson.
Hewitt loved cars and had his hand in the car industry throughout his life, whether it be for work or leisure. He loved to cook and became quite the pitmaster on the competition BBQ circuit. So many barbeque contestants benefitted from what some would refer to as his wisdom, and others sarcastic humor. Regardless of one's take, he was loved by all.
His love of people and his goal to make at least one person smile every day led him to his devotion to community service. Many children benefited from an AmTrike during his time with his AMBUCS brothers. Not only did his persistent persuasion to other clubs bring forth many giving hearts to purchase trikes for children in surrounding areas, through his gift of gab, many new friendships were forged as well. Not one of his car club friends saw him coming or even knew what hit them! They will never forget his passing.
To all of the family and many friends of Hewitt, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for loving him and not being afraid to show it. He was one of a kind, the old goat!
There will be no traditional service. A Celebration of Life will be held January 28, 2023 at 4PM where we can all gather to honor the man who brought us all together. For details on the celebration, please contact the family or email: [email protected].
