Hershel Oliver Walker's Obituary
Hershel O. Walker Jr. passed from this life on Mon. July 22, 2013,
at 5:00 p.m. He was born on September 22, 1931, in Marion, La.
As a child, his family moved to Kerrville, TX, where he graduated from
Tivy High School in 1950. Mr. Walker was drafted into the U.S. Army
and served as an MP in Munich, Germany from 1950-1953. Over the
course of his life, Hershel lived in Andrews, Brownfield, Laneville, and
College Station, TX. He worked as a carpenter building homes, and
as a laborer, electrician, and foreman at a Sodium Sulphate Plant at
Cedar Lake, near Loop, TX. Hershel was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Brownfield, and most recently the First Baptist Church in Mt.
Enterprise, TX.
Walker is survived by one son, Hershel Oliver Walker III Butch
and his wife, Mary of Bryan, TX. Three grandchildren: Jesse K. Walker
of Bryan, Shawn M. Walker of Bryan, Allison Robinson of College
Station, and many friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, H.O. Walker Sr. and
Elizabeth Walker, and his wife, Betty Ann Walker.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rader Funeral Home in
Henderson, TX. There will be a visitation at the Rader Funeral Home
on Thursday evening July 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services
will be held on Friday morning July 26th at the Rader Funeral Chapel
at 11 a.m. with burial following at Laneville Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Gerald Pepper of Glenfawn Baptist Church and Bro. Joe Orr of The First Baptist Church of Mt. Enterprise.
