Hershel H. Chandler's Obituary
Memorial services for Hershel H. Chandler, 80, of Longview, will be 2 PM Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church of Longview with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek and Dr. W. D. O?Neal officiating. Rader Funeral Home of Longview in charge of services.
Mr. Chandler died Friday evening at his residence.
Mr. Chandler was born December 27, 1921 in Center, Texas, grew up in East Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Centenary College with a major in Business and Finance. He studied Engineering at Louisiana State University where he received an Engineering degree. He was a decorated combat veteran of World War II, serving 3 ½ years in Africa and Europe. He was employed by the United Gas Companies at various positions in Shreveport, LA and Washington, DC for over 25 years before moving to Houston, TX with United Energy Resources. He retired in 1980 and moved to Longview, TX to become an entrepreneur, founding and operating several businesses. Mr. Chandler was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Wilson Chandler, sons: William Dallas Chandler of Longview and Michael Dean Chandler of Vacaville, CA; daughter: Donna Rosprim and husband Chris of Denton, TX. Four grandchildren: Lisa Rosprim, Megan Rosprim, Travis Rosprim and Laura Chandler. One brother and sister: Doyel Chandler of Kirbyville and LaRue Lockwood of Arlington, TX and a number of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elders of the First Presbyterian Church.
The family requests that Memorials be made to the Longview Habitat Association or First Presbyterian Church.
