Herminia Sia Brown's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of Herminia Sia Brown, age 71, of Longview, who passed away March 18, 2026 after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 1, 1954, in Cebu City, Philippines to Enrique Sia and Margarita Angcon. It was there that Herminia attended school and acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce.
Sadly, Herminia’s father passed away when she was only 13 years old. This hardship caused the family to lose everything and move into a one room shack with no running water or electricity. Herminia had to drop out of school and went to work helping to support the family. Due to her leadership of the family, her sisters fondly called her “Father”.
In 1983, on a work permit Herminia moved from the Philippines to Houston, Texas where she took a job for a local Petroleum company as their bookkeeper/accountant.
In 1984 Herminia met David Lee Brown and later they were married. They resided in Longview where she was a beauty operator and a physical therapy aide until she retired in 2008.
Herminia was a member of the Filipino American Association and a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Longview.
Herminia was very outgoing and friendly to all she encountered. You might say she never met a stranger. She enjoyed traveling and taking in all the sights.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 41 years, David Lee Brown, sisters, Nelly, Rosita/Sr. Mediatrix, Evangeline, and Enriqueta. She is also survived by two nieces and a nephew.
Herminia’s parents and sister, Lucia, proceeded her in passing.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the doctors, nurses, aides/techs at Good Shepherd Hospital for all their loving care of Herminia, and a special “Thank You” to Treviso and all their nurses, aides and business staff for the exceptional care they showed, whose names are too many to mention. Also, a “Thank You” to the nurse and aide of Hospice of East Texas, and all those that came to visit her during her last few days while she was with us.
