Herman Oscar Meissner
Funeral services for Herman O. Meissner, 99, of Fort Worth, formerly of Longview, will be at 2 pm on Friday, May 21, 2004, in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Dr. Laney Johnson will officiate. Entombment will be in Lakeview Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the funeral home.
Born on August 15, 1904, in Buckholts, Texas, Mr. Meissner was a longtime resident of Longview and Leverett's Chapel. He was a hard working provider for his family, and was proud to have worked for Atlantic Richfield Company for some 43 years as a Production Foreman. He served faithfully as a deacon at Mobberly Baptist Church for many years. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather that enjoyed working around the house, gardening and cooking for his family and friends. He was well-known for his homemade pecan pies. He touched the lives of everyone he knew and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Meissner is survived by his daughter, Sue and her husband John Horn, of Fort Worth; son-in-law, Vernon Williams and his wife Betty of Bullard, and his brother, George Meissner, of Karnack, Texas; five grandchildren, Cheryl Gholson of Arlington, Vickie Richardson of Longview, Jay Horn of Bedford, Brad Williams and his wife, Tami, of Evergreen, Colorado, and Gary Horn and his wife, Michelle, of Acton, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Eric Gholson and his wife Kelly of Spokane, Washington, Randi Lynn Hartin and her husband Brian of Mansfield, Heath Richardson of Kilgore, Kristi Richardson of Denton, and Katie Williams of Evergreen, Colorado; and one great-great grandchild, Madelynn Hartin of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Bertha Meissner, and his daughter, Edith Williams.
